If you're looking to install a unique garden path using Timber Sleepers, one of the key things to consider is the quality of the grip on each sleeper when walking over it. If there is no additional grip added to the sleeper, they may be slippery in wet conditions and unsafe for walking over in adverse weather.

Our Timber Railway Sleepers with Metal Grip Treads offers a solution for this. On each sleeper, a small metal wedge is driven into the centre of the sleeper, which protrudes the edge of the wood by a few millimetres. This small wedge offers additional grip and ensures the full surface of the sleeper is not slippery in the wet, making it safe and easy to walk over, or move wheelbarrows across. It also retains its grip if mud gets on the path.

We offer two types of sleeper, and two types of metal tread. Our Sleepers come in either Brown or Green Treated varieties, and the metal can be 2mm Rustic Steel or 2mm Stainless Steel. Each one offers a different appearance whilst offering the same durability and quality. The rustic steel will be delivered as bare 2mm Steel, which will weather over time to give a vintage and rustic appearance, whilst the marine-grade stainless steel option will permanently remain rust-free.

There is nothing to assemble together on delivery, the wedge is already placed in the Timber Railway Sleeper for you in the best position. You simply need to install the sleepers where you want your path!

Chemically Treated: Brown or Green treating is a process that involves injecting a chemical preservative into timber to protect it from decay and insect damage, making these treated railway sleepers more durable for outdoor use.

Lightweight, Small Size: Easy to deliver, easy to transport, easy to work with. The short length on these railway sleepers ensures it is easy to move around your garden and easy to build with, negating the need for sawing and 2-person carrying.

Sustainably Sourced: We get this timber from Thetford Forest (a few miles from us) and they are sourced from Corsican Pine Redwood
