One of the biggest problems when feeding chickens is food getting wet or ruined in unexpected downpours. The Easy-Release Standing Feed Hopper from Jake's Farm Yard makes feeding chickens easier than ever, and stops any chance of the food becoming spoiled in adverse weather conditions.
The unit comes complete with both a roof and a tray at the bottom for feeding from. The main part of the hopper can hold up to 40kg of grain (tested by ourselves), reducing the frequency of having to refill the feeder, with the roof ensuring the feed stays dry in the worst of weathers. The feeder can roughly hold 2 full bags of feed, whether it be Mixed Poultry Grain or Layer's Pellets. The feed can easily be dispensed into the feeding tray at the bottom to dispense the right amount of food at the right time.
To operate the feeder, start by removing the roof and filling the hopper with as much feed as you like. The chickens will eat from the tray at the base, so when it is time to refill their feed, use the turn handle at the base of the hopper to open the holes and allow the feed to fall into the feeding tray directly from the hopper. You can close the handle to stop the food falling when they have the perfect amount. This allows you much better control over the amount of feed your chickens are receiving than standard chicken feeders and hoppers. The hood on the hole allows the food to fall directly into the feeding tray, avoiding wastage.
The hopper itself is made entirely from Galvanised Steel which will not rust when left outdoors, and will ensure that the food is not spoiled by rust or the surface of the metal. It will also remain durable in all weather conditions and provides ample strength to withstand wind and being nudged by the animals themselves.
The hopper is delivered flat-pack, with minimal assembly required to attach the legs to the hopper, attach the feeding tray to the base of the legs and then bolt on the handle and hood for the hole.
We designed this chicken feed hopper in the UK at our premises in Norfolk. We keep chickens here ourselves and have designed this to meet the needs of our own poultry, so can testify to the quality and ease of use this hopper provides.
