Would you like to encourage more wildlife to visit your garden, or simply wish to feed the gardens existing residents? This Steel Bird Feeder from Jake's Farm Yard can easily be installed in your garden to help attract wild birds to your garden.
The outer shell is from bare steel, which allows the bird feeder to rust gradually over time, giving a rustic antique look. The appearance will blend into your garden or allotment seamlessly. The feed and seed tray is made from Galvanised Steel which will remain rust-free though, meaning the food will not be affected by the rusting process, and will remain safe for the animals to eat.
The seed tray can be removed when needed, with the galvanised steel being easy to clean and wash. The tray can be easily refilled with extra feed, seed or bird mix and placed back in the bird feeder without the need for fully removing the whole feeder. Removing the try couldn't be easier, simply slide the tray either forward or backward as the product images demonstrate.
Supplied with a 1200mm softwood pole and ground stake, the steel bird feeder stands at an ideal height for birds to feed. It is also a great height to remove the feeder when empty.
Assembly is simple. To ensure no breakages, the pole is delivered separately. Once you have all the pieces, simply insert the metal tubing at each end of the wooden pole. Once firmly connected, drive the staked edge into the ground. The small lip on the pole should indicate where to drive down to.

Ingredients
At Indoor Outdoors we have many products which we describe as Rustic Steel. This refers to the fact that the item will rust over time to give it that lovely orangey-brown vintage look.
When your product arrives, it may have small patches of rust forming, but it will be in its bare, Mild Steel state. It will be a mostly grey-ish colour. Over time though, as the item is left outside and exposed to the elements, a rusty patina will form on the surface of the steel which gives it that lovely hue. This can take time though, and depends entirely on the outside conditions. Heavy rainfall and bad weather will help it rust faster.
You can speed the rusting process up though, some of our customers have recommended using vinegar, salt or lemon juice on the surface to get that rusty look a little sooner.
Depending on weather conditions, we say it can take anywhere from several weeks, to several months to fully rust. Jason, one of our customers has shared a special tip for achieving that lovely rusty outer in just 2 days!
You can pour equal parts of distilled vinegar and hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle, along with a 1/4 of a standard cup of salt. Spray this mixture all over the product and it will cause an immediate reaction, rusting in just a matter of days!
